Couples come in all shapes and sizes. They always have, since the beginning of time.
Life is short, and often cruel. Finding true love, or even a true friend is not just a comfort.
It’s a miracle.
But I’ve seen it with my own two eyes. True love happens.
It is easy to recognize when you see it.
Love…
..in all its many forms…
..is a gift to us all. It fills the world with light.

I just interviewed a 91 year old Pearl Harbor survivor who had been married 64 1/2 years. He cried speaking of his wife.

That is an absolutely wonderful set of photos:-) And I want those ducks for my collection of strange wood-carved birds!
OH, my! You should do a post sometime on your collection of birds! The bird in the photo was carved, I believe, by the Hittites, which means it’s probably well over two thousand years old. I just loved it too!
Love is really magical – everywhere we gaze our eyes, there’s love! 🙂
Isn’t that true? You could look about and see only the harsh and sad side of life, but the magic is always there too!
Our local botanical garden has a stone sculpture that is similar in emotion to the one in your first shot.

I appreciate your thoughtful comments. I was on a storytelling tour in Eastern Washington, and we were going to dinner in a little town on the night of the full moon. I noticed that the globed streetlights were a perfect pairing for the rising moon. My wonderful family patiently waited while I found the perfect frame for that beautiful coupling of images! Light and shadow have always caught my attention, and been very important to me in my life, and my art, whether I am taking a picture or telling a story.
Thank you for following my blog. I checked out yours, and was impressed. I look forward to following your writings as well.
I found you through Rawrasaur, and I would not have read this as about equal marriage without that introduction. Perhaps I am not subtle enough, or perhaps it is that I am in favour of all kinds of Love- I liked the lamp and moon best, but I have found squirrels so difficult to photograph, they do not like you paying them too much attention, so that is impressive too. Do carry on influencing subtly.

This post was really meant to be all-inclusive, and about love in all of its forms, including friendship, and not excluding same sex couples. The lamp and moon shot is probably my favorite too. I was saving that photo for a special spot, although I wasn’t sure where that might be. As soon as I began a post on couples, I knew it would be my grand finale.

Thank you, Frizz. That was just a lucky capture. We took the kids to Australia, and turned them loose in a petting zoo. It was sweet the way Bea and this little kangaroo took to each other right away.
