Hi friends,
Since the theme for Jake’s Sunday Post is about bridges, I couldn’t resist a reblog for my new readers. Pete and repeat were crossing a bridge….
So many bridges.
Bridges of concrete…
…iron…
…and steel.
Ancient ones of stone…
…brick…
…mortar….
…and wood.
Some are famous…
…celebrated in story…
…and song.
Some draw pilgrims from all over the world.
So different…
…yet they serve the same purpose.
To span distance…
…to connect…
…to deliver us from troubled waters.
There’s an old saying…it is better to build bridges than walls.

Perfect! Thank you for sharing this.
Lovely. I immediately thought of this song too. Must be a generational thing!
Oh, yes. It does date us, although it is really timeless. Thanks for the visit–always good to hear from you.
Thanks for reblogging and the reminder of a great song!
Thank you for your visit, and for taking the time to comment!
all the minds and hands that work together to connect us…great post!
Yes, I love the symbolism and the very practical applications of bridge-building! Thank you for your visit, and for sharing your really lovely comment.
Loved that song (but I am not from that generation hehehe) and loved the original post….take care Naomi! Have a wonderful week ahead, Love Mary
Hey, there, spring chicken! Thanks so much for the visit. Your comments always always always make me smile! Thank you for the visit, Mary.
Love,
Naomi
…PETE fell who was left? REPEAT…
Very good! I didn’t know if anyone would get that very old very corny joke, but I couldn’t help myself.
I’m listening to Bridge over Troubled Water – You Tube video from Frizz. Love that song. I’m trying to think back to where I was at the time I first heard it. Songs will do that – won’t they?
Very nice reblog …. Izzy
Dear Izzy,
I still listen to the songs I loved way back when I first started buying my own records and listening to the radio. I feel a little secret triumph when my kids will download them to enjoy, because some of them are timeless. Bridge Over Troubled Waters is one of those that they love too.
Warmly,
Naomi
Speaking of records … the old 33’s are making a come back. My hubby loves those. He has purchased some jazz LP’s and the sound is so much better than Cd’s.
I know …. why did they stop???? ~~~~~: – O
