Purple is my favorite color, and it always has been. But I love yellow for its cheerfulness.
It’s my daughter Bea’s favorite color.
And she wears it well, don’t you think?
She isn’t the only one.
Whether yellow comes as a tasteful accent…
…a warm background…
…a pleasing bit of contrast…
…or a big splash of color…
…Ma Nature wears it well too.
…and so do her children.
We’ve borrowed this sunny hue from nature to brighten our homes on the outside…
…and on the inside too.
It shines a cheerful light through the darkness…
…and lifts our spirits.
It warms us from the inside out.
Yellow comes in many eye-catching colors and goes by many names…goldenrod, schoolbus, taxicab yellow…
Maize, saffron, lemon…mmm, yellow never smelled so good.
Yellow means different things to different people. Does this signal mean approach slowly? Or go very very fast?
It might depend on whether you’re coming…
…or going.
Is it animal, vegetable, or mineral?
Never mind. That’s neither here nor there.

Lovely and funny images. I feel the same. Purple is my favorite color too but yellow is such a vibrant positive color. It was my mothers favorite color.
Remember when it was nearly impossible to find anything in purple? It was just not a mainstream fashion choice. I can’t wear yellow, but I have an appreciation for its warm and brightness and cheerfulness.

Yellow and purple are complementary colors, technically, are they not? I always said purple was my favorite color, and my bedroom was always painted yellow. I need the warmth and light for my mood. What wouldn’t I give to see a dandelion right now?!

It might be no coincidence that I moved into a house with purple fixtures and aqua tile in the front bathroom! I painted the walls and cupboards in there magenta, violet, and aqua, just for fun. But the kitchen is two shades of yellow, the walls of my bedroom are sage (and the accents are purple), and my living room is an orangey sienna. I guess I just love color.

Yellow is also my favourite colour! Everything looks better with yellow!
I can’t wear it, because it makes my skin look jaundiced, but I love it on my walls, in my garden, and in a sunset!

Yellow is, and always has been, my favourite colour, and when we had a home I painted the living room walls in a faux Tuscan yellow finish. I spent weeks experimenting with colours and textures and finally got it just right. It was such a warm room.

My favorite color is purple as well but I still love yellow because no matter where I see it, how little or a lot, yellow always, always makes me smile before I even know I am.
I have a 36″ square canvas with a huge yellow rose. Each time I look at it, I smile and am pulled into its centre.

Sweet and fanciful. Love the “dancers.” We are just painting our living room a deeper shade of yellow for the warmth and glow. We also recently painted our tiny bathroom a brighter yellow for its uplifting cheer. And don’t I plant marigolds in my yard every year, wherever I am? I never considered yellow a favorite color but there you are. It is what it is!

Thanks for the lovely ray of sunshine this morning. Believe it or not, I woke up to a world of blue and white too! Our yard is covered in snow! It won’t last, and will be gone by tomorrow, but I can see how a person would need a good dose of yellow to stay warm!

I hear you! My sister lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and says there was a week of high temperatures below zero! I don’t think I could stand that.
Went out today for some walking on ice and it still amazes me each year they pull their trucks and bob house out and they loose a few each year today planes were landing and taking off on the lake during the huge fishing derby 🙂 brrrr Photos soon 🙂 I remember trucking up where your sister is and into Fargo and northern MN -70F without windchill could not shut off the rigs or they would never start till spring lol I live in a balmy area 🙂
I love yellow, but yellow doesn’t love me, at least as a color to wear. 😦 I have to enjoy it other places. Love the sunflowers. There’s nothing more cheerful than a field full of their beautiful faces. As for the yellow traffic signal, you’re exactly right–it means two disparate things!

Purple is my favorite too but who doesn’t love the cheerful color yellow? These pics warmed me up! And I can use some warming as I sit under a blanket and look out the window to yards covered in a few feet of frozen snow 🙂

I love that photo too. We took that at the botanical gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bea looks like a little garden fairy! We were so taken by the beauty of that profusion of Black-eyed Susans that we came home and planted them in our yard.

I’ve only ever once fallen in love with a car — a yellow Mercedes with black smoked glass windows, black leather seats, and walnut dashboard. Mister wouldn’t allow me to have it (even though it was second hand) and made me have something sensible. A bright red jaguar that I hated and couldn’t park. Sensible, my foot 😀 He just fancied it himself and knew I wouldn’t want to drive it. One day, I will have a yellow car, as it is the best colour for transport. That being said, my favourite colours to wear are purple, red, and deep pink.

That would be a pretty sight to wake up to. I wear a lot of purple, and I think it is my favorite color, but every color has its place in the world, both expected and unexpected (likethe ocean that somehow took on an aqua and lavender color in Mexico). When I recognize how perfect it is, for that moment it could almost be my favorite color, from the oranges and reds in a sunset to the perfect green of new spring buds to the surprising blue of Paul Newman’s eyes!
It is such a cheerful color. My first bedroom had yellow walls and for years it was my favorite color. Now it’s purple 😉 But I still think it’s happy and perky.
It’s funny how many people have both yellow and purple as their favorite and second favorite, though they are opposite one another on the color wheel. Nice complements to each other.
I was always purple everything, but now my bedroom is purple and green, and my living room is Sienna, to go with the stone fireplace, but I love the warmth of it. I guess tastes change too as we age.

I can’t wear them, but it made me realize that, although I can’t wear them and wouldn’t hang them as curtains, I would be very sad without them.
