Old Spice

As old as the hills.

As fresh as the dew.

As sure as the sun rises and sets, light and darkness engage in an eternal struggle.

This time of the year, when its seems nighttime might last forever, we find ways to beat back the darkness.

Always have.  Always will.

 Just outside our door.

In our homes.

…and in our hearts.

With music…

…friends and family…

…and more stories.

Parties help.

So does chocolate.

Sweetness of any kind, really.

And a sense of adventure, even if it’s just in your own mind.

When in doubt, add an extra pinch of spice.

May the New Year bring you fun and adventure, sweetness and spice.

  3. Beautiful photos, Naomi. I love the human cookies! 🙂 Happy New Year!

    1. Dear Jill,
Thank you so much! Those cookies are Star Trek Red Shirts–the poor star fleet guys who always get killed before the first commercial break. I guess that’s just how the cookie crumbles! But for you I wish the very best in 2016, and great success with your writing!

  4. Wonderful pictures, Naomi — all colour, energy, and smiles 🙂 I agree with Jill about the human cookies! Wishing you and your family a joyous and super-creative 2016 x

    1. Thank you, Sarah! I know your 2016 will be creative, because that’s who you are, but I hope it brings you the recognition your writing deserves, and great personal satisfaction. xoxo, n

      1. Thank you, Naomi. Recognition is so hard to achieve. At the moment, I’m trying to get my head around marketing and it’s a real slog, especially when many people have overspent at Christmas. On reflection, publishing a novel in the middle of December wasn’t the best of ideas, but I had flu and it set me back by several weeks. But must find time to write some new stuff in 2016, just to keep the writing muscles exercised. xxxx

      2. OH, Sarah! I am too far behind in everything–didn’t know you had released your novel. Congratulations! What is the title and where can I order a copy? I am excited to be able to read it!

      3. It’s called Desiccation and you can buy it in paperback or kindle editions from Amazon, or paperback only from Create Space and Barnes & Noble. I have all the links listed on my Publication Updates page on my blog, but am on my tablet just now and not on my PC, so can’t link you to the page.

      4. Thank you, Sarah. I look forward to reading it!

    1. Thank you, Gilly! Wishing you all the best too! xoxo, n

    1. Dear Jo,
I am never so happy as when all four of us can get together. The cookies were Bea’s gift to Uncle Lew, a lifelong Trekker, and we had a lot of fun with that, too. Thanks for the visit and the good wishes. All the best to you and your family for 2016!

  6. The most important thing in life is good health! This I wish to you and to your loved ones for the New Year… have a good end and a fresh starts !!!

    1. So true, Claudine! Thanks so much for your good wishes. I wish you and your beautiful family good health and happiness for the New Year.
